Three Week Reflection

February 23 & 24, 2016


  • Look up your grades in power school and on blackboard (it's been three weeks!)
    • Get the same colors you used before
    • Mark your high school and college grades 
    • Did you meet your goal?
      • Fill out the reflection and look at the college readiness rubic
    • Make sure that you fill out the reflection sheet that you started at the beginning of the semester.

Parent Presentations

Tuesday February 16th and Wednesday February 17th
Objective:  I CAN plan for my future at LEC.
  • Parent meeting presentation
    • Create a presentation any way you want to show your parents since you are in charge!
      • Your current high school grades
        • Which class you are most proud of and why
        • Which class you need to improve in and HOW you plan to do this (Be SPECIFIC)
      • Your current college grades
        • Which class you are most proud of and why
        • Which class you need to improve in and HOW you plan to do this (Be SPECIFIC)
      • Your current class rank
      • Explanation of high school graduation requirements
        • Show high school classes you have successfully taken
        • Show high school classes you still need to take for high school graduation
      • Explanation of college classes
        • Will you get your AA or AS and WHY!  
          • If you need to change from what your sheet says we will fill out a form with your parents during the meeting.
        • Show college classes you have successfully taken
        • Show college classes you still need to take for high school graduation
      • PLAN Scores
        • What is your predicted ACT score?
        • What does a person successful in your field need?
        • How do these relate to the colleges you want to?
          • List two colleges and their average ACT scores
        • What are you going to do before the ACT to improve? (the back of the scores give you hints)
      • Share what classes are you planning on taking next semester.
      • Share your five year plan
During this time I will be having individual conferences with you to talk about your plan and next year schedule!

Tracking

Objective: I can use the LEC tracking sheet to make a tentative plan for graduation.

Today you will...
  • Decide which tracking sheet you will use (AA or AS?)
  • Highlight classes you will definitely need to take
    • ENG 111
    • ENG 112
    • ENG 232
    • HIS 131
    • HIS 132
    • Math classes (depend on your tracking sheet)
    • SPA 111
    • SPA 112
    • PED 110
    • ACA 122
  • Circle classes you are interested in to fill in blanks for each section
    • Ex: PSY 150 for the Social/Behavioral Sciences Section
  • Add classes you need to take to the 5 year plan
    • ENG 111 -> Fall of 2016
    • ENG 112 -> Spring of 2017
  • Add grades to your 5 year plan based on your transcript
    • Meet with teacher to discuss your transcript
    • Put your transcript in your red folder after using it

      • Give them tips for interview night
      • Give them tips on how to be successful at LEC
      • Give them words of encouragement
      • Make it colorful and creative so they have something to look at while they are waiting

5 year plan

Objective: I can work on my graduation plan and identify high school requirements. 

Today you will...
  • Look at the high school requirements for graduation
    • Highlight all the classes you have taken
    • Add these to your 5 year plan if they are not on there yet
    • Add the grades you made in the classes last semester
    • Add remaining high school classes if they are not on the plan yet
      • Remember: You can only take college math/English if you pass the Accuplacer!
    • Fill in your PLAN scores at the top
    • Fill in other colleges you are interested in
    • Fill in your career cluster
    • Make sure to tell me if your degree is NOT what you want (AA vs. AS)
      • Fill out a form for degree change
  • Use the HS tracking sheet to help complete the assignment.
