PLAN Scores

January 13, 2016

  • PLAN scores
    • General overview of what your scores mean and how to read the sheet
  • Look at your scores:
    • Were you happy with your scores?  Why or why not?
      •   Answer in a COMPLETE sentence.
    • Look at your estimated ACT composite score range:
      • List all the types of schools would you be able to get into with that ACT. (out of open, traditional, selective, highly selective)
      • Look at the profile for success
        • Does your predicted ACT meet what a successful student in your field has?  How many points are you away (put + if you are above and - if you are below)
    • Pick three colleges you are interested in
      • A reach school (dreaming big/ a type of school in a harder admission standard that you got)
      • A borderline school (a school in your admission standards range that you can probably get into if you keep working)
      • A safety school (a school you can definitely get into since it is lower than your admission standards.
        • For example, if my ACT range is a 18-24 then my dream big school would be in the highly selective range, my borderline school would be in the traditional range and my safety school would be in the open range.
      • Use this website to look at different schools and their ACT requirements:
      • For each school:
        • Name the school
        • State if it is your reach school, borderline school, or safety school
        • What state is the school in (at least one has to be in NC)
        • What is their ACT range?
    • How to improve your ACT score?
